ACMA Medical Forum
an on-line journal from ACMA medical committee

Introduction

American Chinese Medical Association (ACMA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996. The organization's mission is to promote collaborations between biomedical scientists and physicians in North America and to broaden communication among medical professionals in the US and China. Since its founding, the association has been actively engaged in a variety of activities to fulfill its mission. Currently, ACMA has hundreds of members and associate members in North America. Most are attending physicians, clinical fellows, residents, interns, and medical scientists. Recently, the medical committee of ACMA has been strengthened tremendously and so to take advantage of members' medical expertise and to better serve ACMA and the public, the medical committee decided to publish an on-line medical journal perodically on the official ACMA web site. In line with the major missions of the Committee, the journal's purpose is to provide the public with medical knowledge, insightful information regarding the medical school system, residency training programs, and practice opportunities, etc. The editorial board will invite an expert from different medical fields to write articles in Chinese and English and to publish them on the ACMA website. The articles will cover a wide range of medical issues, from immunization and child fever management, to updated cancer therapies and prevention and treatments of heart attack.

It is the intention of ACMA that the articles will only represent authors' opinions. The instructions in the articles can only serve as a general guidline. We have no intention to replace your physicians, and ACMA is not legally responsible for the any adverse medical consequences.

The journal has its own editorial office. The editor-in-chief will be in charge of the office. Currently, Taosheng Huang, M.D., Ph.D., of Children's Hospital at Harvard Medical School was appointed to the post by the ACMA president. Dr. Huang was a newly elected ACMA board Member and director of medical committee. The editor-in-chief will report to the president directly.  The journal will be evaluated during the next ACMA board meeting. The official editor-in-chief will be appointed at that time.
