History of ACMA |
||||
| In
the mid-nineteenth century the American Medical Association(AMA)was
organized under the leadership of Dr. Nathan Davis to improve the
medical profession in the United States.In 1915, 40 physicians in
Shanghai, China, motivated by the same spirit, founded the Chinese
Medical Association(CMA). Today, CMA has 400,000 members representing 57
specialties, each with its own professional journal. Its goals are to
deliver quality healthcare, support biomedical research, and promote
health education.
To enhance communications between medical professionals in China and the U.S., North American Symposium of the Chines Medical Association was held in 1996 in Springfield, Illinois. This marked a new era of collaboration between East and West and led to the founding of the American Chinese Medical Association (ACMA). The purpose of ACMA is to help improve healthcare for all by strengthening ties between medical professionals in China and North America, by facilitating technology transfer through scientific collaborations and medical education. As we enter the new millennium ACMA is committed itself to employ our diversity to drive the progress of the medical profession. Let us be inspired by our forefathers' effort to build a bridge between Eastern and Western medicine for the purpose of improving healthcare for all. กก |
