ACMA New England Chapter Education Forum
                                                              



On April 16, 2006, the ACMA New England Chapter organized an educational forum at Lexington, MA,
co-hosted by Dr. Danru Zhang.  The purpose of this forum was to bring the attentions to hepatitis, a
major health problem among Asian American society, by education and discussions.  A full house of
invited speakers and guests, community activists, physicians and researchers from nationally renowned
universities and medical schools, scientists from industrial organizations attended this evening event.

Dr. Zhang opened the forum with earnest welcome and appreciation of the ACMA volunteers¡¯ effort to
bring-up the forum.  Dr. Zhang then introduce Dr. Zhenglun Zhu, who gave a brief account of the
accomplishment of ACMA in 2005, especially the ACMA annual conference held in New York City, NY.  

The invited speaker, Dr. Eddie Chung from California, a physician specialist in liver diseases,
highlighted the endemic of viral hepatitis in United States, especially in Asian American Society.  He
also introduced the current treatment to the disease.  His talk was responded by many questions and
discussions.

Dr. Ruibao Ren, a Professor from Brandeis University, offered his opinion on viral hepatitis as well as
his vision of promoting academic excellency among ACMA members.  Dr. Ren proposed to organize an
academic activity focusing on cancer related issues, which is a prominent threat to the new immigrants.  

Dr. Minda Huang, a practitioner of general medicine in the Asian community, currently head of CAMA,
praised ACMA¡¯s effort to provide health care and education to the community.  He also proposed a
closer collaboration among physician for the Asian community services.

Dr. Luan Qingxian, Professor from Peking University School of Dental Medicine, introduced current
situations related to medical practice and research in China mainland.

The desire and enthusiasm of serving the community and promoting academic excellency were shared
by all meeting attendee.  With the suggestions of the participants, the ACMA-NE announced its new
leadership for the effort of promoting health education and academic excellency.  Centered round Dr.
Danru Zhang (President of ACMA-NE) are Dr. Xuejun Kong, the medical director; and Dr. Ruibo Ren,
scientific advisor; Siyuan Shen and Yanhua Tang, administrator directors.  They are joined by all forum
attended for the spirit of volunteer for academic activities and community service.    

In her concluding remarks, Dr. Zhang acknowledged effort of everyone for the goal of the ACMA:  
Bridge to a healthier world.
